According to the serving size listed on the nutritional facts panel, BrandStorm Inc. announced it is voluntarily recalling 2 lots of Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberry pouches (lot # 2021363-1 & 2022026-1) due to the presence or potential presence of lead over the FDA’s recommended levels. High blood lead levels can harm the neurological system and internal organs even in those who don’t exhibit any symptoms. Abdominal pain, muscle weakness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, weight loss, and bloody or decreased urine output are just a few of the symptoms of acute lead poisoning. Lead poisoning can be particularly dangerous for children.
A child’s central nervous system may be permanently harmed if exposed to lead for an extended length of time (such as weeks to months). Learning disabilities, developmental flaws, as well as other long-term health issues, may emerge from this. In the US, retail and online store services were used to distribute Natierra Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberries, 1.2 oz. Two batches of Natierra Freeze-Dried Blueberries with the following codes are the only ones affected by the problem. 12/2024 and 1/2025 are the best by dates.
The affected product is packaged in a white and blue bag with the Natierra logo. Checking the product name, manufacturer information, and lot number on the pouch’s bottom right will help you identify the item. Testing carried out by a facility in Maryland revealed the problem. The packaging facility performed an investigation. Lead was not present and there was no reason for batch testing according to the initial heavy metal data for the crop year. Further research revealed that Lithuania is the product’s country of origin, and intensive heavy metal monitoring may be judged required. The packing facility is taking quick action to improve the food safety system by enforcing batch testing for heavy metals.
Do not consume the product impacted. Consumers who purchased Natierra Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberries 1.2oz, with lot Code 2021363-1 or 2022026-1 should discard of the product. Refunds are available at the location of purchase. Returns will be provided at the point of sale through validation of lot codes on the affected pouches.
